SCHLIP’S TIPS: BEAUTY AND THE BRUSH

Physicians Formula’s Resident Artist Hollywood Glamour Guru

Good makeup brushes are an investment that need constant care to ensure a lifetime of use. Celebrity Makeup Artist and Physicians Formula Spokesperson, Joanna Schlip offers her top tips on keeping brushes looking (and feeling) as good as when they were first bought…

CLEARLY THE FIRST STEP:

“Always wash your brushes the first time you use them,” advises Joanna. “That’s because some brushes, especially faux hair, are sprayed with chemicals that you’d want to remove before putting in your makeup or on skin”. Her solution of choice: baby shampoo. She recommends gently washing each brush with shampoo and rinsing immediately. If it’s a natural hair brush, like Physicians Formula’s Bamboo Wear™ Bambuki™ Brush, “Treat it right and condition after washing to keep soft and subtle”

ALWAYS IN HER BRUSH KIT:

Designed with a full head of luxuriously soft and densely packed natural hair for maximum pick-up of powder and effortless blending, Physicians Formula’s Bambuki™ Brush (SRP$13.99) features 100% Natural Hair and 100% Naturally Sustainable Bamboo Handle. The ultimate powder & bronzer airbrushing applicator, it is the perfect tool for applying Physicians Formula’s Bamboo Wear™ Bamboo Silk Face Powder & Bronzer.

BRUSH UP ON WHAT CAN BE CAUSING SKIN SENSITIVITY:

Women with sensitive skin can be wary trying a new makeup. However, Joanna explains that skin reactions are sometimes caused by brushes, not makeup. “Brushes are treated with chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin. Women often think that they are allergic to the makeup, when they are actually reacting to the brushes.” Once again, a thorough cleansing of any makeup brush prior to first use can be the solution to this vexing problem!
